using batch command to make a backup xls file

I have searched and searched....want to use cmd DOS *.bat to create command to make a daily copy of a LAN file back to hard drive in case support team can not provide backup tapes.

I might be showing my age ...used to do it in DOS...all I see is VB methods upon searching. Can NE1 help?

Another idea might be to create a "before close" event macro...
