I need help to use custom formatting to add trailing spaces behind numbers so that they are pushed away from the right border and still appear as right aligned.

Thank you.

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
You could set the Horizontal Alignment (Alignment tab of the Cell Format dialog box) to "Right (Indent)" and set the indent number to 1 (or maybe 2).

Another possibility is to leave the Horizontal Alignment as its default (General) and uses this Custom Format pattern instead...

General" "

where you would put one or more spaces between the quote marks depending on how much you wanted to indent the value.
