Can the cell address text string generated by the ADDRESS worksheet function be used as a reference for another calculation?

For example:
Could you use the ADDRESS worksheet function to define one end of a columnar SUM range? (Assuming all of the appropriate cells have numerical values.)

=SUM(ADDRESS(2,3):E2)

~Thanks

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
=SUM(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(2,3,4)):E2)

=SUM(E2:INDIRECT(ADDRESS(2,3,4)))

or better:

=SUM(E2:INDEX(2:2,0,3))

By the way, these formulas involve a horizontal range.
