Using the Find function within VBE

Perhaps it is just me, but shouldn't I be able to search through all of the code within workbook to find parts of different code that contain a certain string. For example when the Find dialog box appears, shouldn't I be able to search through all of my code for...

*Job*

or search for a maybe a special character that I have used like...

*#*

You can. Just type in the word you want to look for and select the "Current Project" option to search all modules in your workbook.

What if I was looking for every instance within all of my code for a string that has a bracket on each end and a single quote mark somewhere in the middle. I'd like to be able to use something like

[*'*]

To find results like

[Job '#]

[Part '#]

 

[RoryA]

Tick the Use pattern matching option and enter:

[[]*'*]

in the Find box.

That worked, but how come in that order and with an extra set of brackets? Interesting

The opening square bracket is a special character and has to be escaped by enclosing it in square brackets
