I have a Master Excel document that pulls many source documents from an application. However, to automate the process of updating the Master spreadsheet, I need to have the VBA code access documents through a WebDav 'backdoor', and not through the Web interface. I have identified the following steps to set up the required mapping to a main folder holding all of the source document, and thereby enable the 'backdoor':
1) Log into the application Web interface
2) Use Windows Explorer by first allowing it to map what is on the network
3) Then enter the path to a main folder using the format: \\application.company.com\applicationwebdav\folderID

The network mapping then will lock onto the Folder and the desired backdoor is then set up. Once set up, the VBA code works perfectly and the Master excel spreadsheet is updated in minutes and not hours.

The problem is that these steps only work occasionally, and I do not know what the exact steps are to ensure that the setup process consistently works. I am very careful with each step. I have opened up a port on the Windows Firewall. I have ensured that Network Discovery and File Sharing are both enabled. I have a Vista machine and use Internet Explorer. The computer also has 'Livelink' installed.

I would very much appreciate any suggestions for making the mapping process reliable.
