I have the following formula:

={IF($F$9:$F$25="STEER",SUMIF($C$9:$C$25,"*TONGUE*",$D$9:$D$25),0)}

Unfortunately, the formula only runs the second part of the formula (the SUMIF part). It is essentially picking up all cells that have TONGUE in them and disregarding what variable is in Column F.

I need to set this up so that if "STEER" is in the cell in column F, it will sum it up, only if "Tongue" is in the description somewhere in column C.

Any clue what I am doing wrong?

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
On systems prior to 2007...

=SUMPRODUCT(--($F$9:$F$25="STEER"),--ISNUMBER(SEARCH("TONGUE",$C$9:$C$25)),$D$9:$D$25)

Otherwise...

=SUMIFS($D$9:$D$25,$F$9:$F$25,"STEER",$C$9:$C$25,"*TONGUE*")
