Validation short cut to enter a different value from a drop

When a range of cells is set to allow a validated list in a drop down is there a way of allowing the user to enter data other than that which appears on the drop down list without having to go into Data validation then clear all.

PS The total time from my posting to getting the info I needed into my sheet was under 10mins
