I need some assistants on why I keep getting this #value error

Here’s the formula I'm using

=IF(D38="","",$P$5+SUM($H$6:H38)-SUM($N$6:N38))-SUM(P40)

thanks

Assuming that none of the referenced cells already contain the #VALUE! error...

You'll get it if cell P5 contains TEXT or, if D38 is blank because you have -SUM(P40) outside of the IF function.

Try it like this:

=IF(D38="","",SUM($P$5,$H$6:H38)-SUM($N$6:N38)-N(P40))
