I am trying to make a budget that quickly updates. Want I want to do is have a "quick budget" sheet and make subsequent sheets dependent on that sheet. Now I know that I can just select a cell and put in "='sheet 1'!F1", and this is what I want to do. But, is there a way to make it date dependent? Like if I fill it out for september, it would fill up the budget information for the month of september in sheet 2; but then as soon as october comes around, without changing the formula, the month of october would fill up while september remains untouched?

Any help would be appreciated!!! thanks

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Where do you keep the budget data for the separate months ?
Is this on another worksheet and whats the layout.

I'm not sure if I understand your question... I put the file at the following URL. Basically what I want to do is, in say, September I could fill in my income and expenses for any of the cells on the first worksheet "quick budget" and when the =now() formula is in the month of september, it inputs that value into the respective columns for september in the second worksheet "monthly." then next month, when the =now() formula is in the month of october, i can change the values in the cells on the "quick budget" worksheet, and these new values go into the october section for the "monthly" worksheet, while leaving the values in the September column unchanged from the previous month.
Im sorry if what I am asking is really confusing...

The file 'Quick Budget.xlsx' (14 KB) is available for download at

for the next 14 days.
It will be removed after Thursday, September 22, 2011.

Why don't you just add it directly in the 'monthly' worksheet ? That's the most practical.
