VB Auto Filter Checking

Is it possible to check via VB code if AUTO FILTER is on if so, How does one check if it is on turn it off or if it is off turn it back on???

    If Sheet1.AutoFilterMode Then
        'Turn off AutoFilter
        Sheet1.AutoFilterMode = False
        Sheet1.Range("A1").Select
        MsgBox "AutoFilter was on, now off"
    Else
        'Turn on AutoFilter

        MsgBox "AutoFilter was off, now on"
