Hi, I've got a macro from which I want to open another file to retrieve data from, the data source file changes name every month so I want some code that will simply prompt the user to enter the path and file name each time the macro runs? Much thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.

This is simple but works.

<pre>
Sub openfile()
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogOpen).Show
End Sub
</pre>

Hi easy_times,

Please try this.

<pre>
Dim strFileName As String

'Your Code here

strFileName = Application.GetOpenFilename("Microsoft Excel Files (*.xls), *.xls")
If strFileName = "False" Then Exit Sub
Workbooks.Open (strFileName)

' Your code here
</pre>
