Hi all,

As a concept can anyone please explain how I could run a VBA macro which searches for all entries of 'red' in column B and places '1' in the adjacent cell in column C, and all entries of 'blue' in column B and places '2' in the adjacent cell in column C?

Many thanks

Best way to learn Power Query?
Read M is for (Data) Monkey book by Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar. It is the complete guide to Power Query.
try this

Sub code1()
Range("B1").Select
Do Until ActiveCell.Value = ""
If ActiveCell.Value = "Red" Then
ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1) = 1
ElseIf ActiveCell.Value = "Blue" Then
ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1) = 2
End If
ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select

Loop

End Sub
