I want to connect my notepad text file with excel pivot tables; so that while clicking a button(present in Developer's tab) in excel sheet I would be able to fetch the sorted data and pivot chart(in different xl sheets).

All I need to do this is with the help of macros. Can anybody suggest what code in vb editor could be written for that??

Shaily, your question is far too general. Please be more specific.

What is the text file that you're trying to import into excel? Is it a text delimited table? If it isn't, then what is its structure?

Are hoping that this text file will be updated by excel?

What is the structure of your pivot table(s) -- what informaion are you trying to summarize?

This sounds as easy as just linking the file. In 2007 on the Data tab, Get External Data.
