Hello all,

I use this: fName = Application.GetOpenFilename("Excel Files (*.xlsx), *.xlsx")

something like: fName = Application.GetOpenFilename("Excel Files (Fred*.xlsx), Fred*.xlsx")

any ideas?

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
Try the following...

VBA Code:
    Dim fName As String

    With Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
        .AllowMultiSelect = False
        .ButtonName = "Open"
        .Filters.Clear
        .Filters.Add "Excel Files", "*.xlsx"
        .FilterIndex = 1
        .InitialFileName = "Fred*.xlsx" '<-----
        .Title = "Select File"
        If .Show = 0 Then Exit Sub
        fName = .SelectedItems(1)
    End With

    Debug.Print fName

Hope this helps!
