Hello all,

I have been going at this for a few days now and can't seem to come up with a solution.

I have a report that I am getting in TEXT format, and I have been working on a process to automatically edit the text and turn it into an easily read-able document.

Here's an example of what it kinda looks like:

WIRE CODE Description FROM TO
123abc321 black wire 234sdg 5930ds
in conduit 2352s 35289s
09235as 235890
325890s 2039502g
234235sg 23-59343
321zbc233 green wires 352352dg 2572357
in the ground 325235ysdf 974974
around the farm 234526g 23562
09235as 235890
325890s 2039502g
234235sg 23-59343

Each line is automatically put into a new row when doing the Text to Columns. The only problem with this is that it makes it REALLY difficult to read, especially since there are over 1900 different wire CODES.

Is there any way to merge these rows or group them automatically so that I can shade every other grouping?

If this were possible, I would put a border between each column and shade every other grouping so that this report will look a thousand times better than what it is now.

I would imagine there would be a way to start with the CABLE CODE, then count each blank row until the next CABLE CODE, and then make those rows a group.

If that is possible, is there a way to automatically have it shade every other group of rows a light blue? It would alternate white and Light Blue, white and Light Blue, etc...

I'm just trying to toss ideas up in the air and I am open to any suggestions.

Thanks!

FYI: I am using Excel 2003, not by choice!
