Hi,

New to the forum. I am looking for a VBA code that will delete all rows in a large spreadsheet like below and only keep the highest approver level by Approver and return type. My sheet will actually have many names with various repeated levels. Any help would be appreciated. John

Welcome to the board!

What version of Excel are you using? If you are using 2007, you can do this pretty easily by:

1. Sorting your data descending by return type, within that by approver and within that by approval level

2. Selecting the whole data set and click 'remove duplicates' under the 'data' ribbon; check the boxes for return type, approver/reviewer and approval level.

Only the top-most instance of each 3-field combo will be left in the sheet. Since you already sorted them descending, the result should be what you are looking for.

If you want to do it via code, you can probably just use the macro recorder and do the above two steps - just be sure and select the entire columns (or maybe the entire columns except the header row) so that your recorded macro doesn't end up doing only the first so many rows later on.

Thanks Tai,

I actually forgot that function was there and could record that using VBA. That works, but now I need to go one step further. After dups removed, I will have some names where the Approver has mutiple approver levels for the same Return type. I now need to keep the highest Approver Level by Approver and Return type. My report will have many names.

Thanks to Tai's help I have figured this out. Solution: Sort by Approver level then Remove Duplicates: Return Type and Approver.

This site has helped me so many times I can not rememebr them all.
