VBA in 2007 vs 2010

Where I work, most of the computers have Office 2007 installed. We recently acquired 2010, but no rollout plan yet. As an IT member, I can install it on my PC whenever I want, but I have to still write macros/VBA for people who are using 2007 (Excel, specifically). Are there significantly different functions in 2010 that would cause grief for my 2007 users? I want to install 2010, but don't want to cause problems if we don't push out the 2010 upgrade to everyone else soon. I know that with 2003 to 2007, there were quite a few functions added that would not work in 2003, even if you saved the file as a 2003 format. Same thing with 2010, or not? FWIW, the kind of code I often write is more than just applying formatting or moving data, but not usually super complicated either. Is there a list of new or changed functions only available in 2010? I looked but couldn't find one...

Welcome to the Board!

Here's an article on What's new in Excel 2010.

There haven't been any upgrades to VBA other than to support new functionality in Excel 2010.

There's not much you need to worry about unless you try to take some 2010 functionality and move it back to earlier versions. Moving from 2010 to 2007 will be much easier than 2007 to 2003, but if you've already made it past that then you should be in pretty good shape, as the bulk of what you would encounter in 2010 is in 2007 too.

HTH,

Thanks for the input. Sounds like I'm probably safe. At least, if I put in a function I'm unfamiliar with I need to check if it was available in 2007 first. Hopefully that won't happen though. :)
