Hi,

I'm getting the following error in ODBC( with Oracle) :

ORA-12541:TNS: listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect descriptor

In the tnsname.ora file the SERVICE_NAME is not mention in the alias that I'm using. Following is that:

Code:
PRODUCTION_DB =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xx.xxx.xx.xx)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SID = abcde)
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)

    )
  )

I'm using Excel 2000,Windows XP.

Can anybody please help?

With thanks,

Biraj
