vba sum forumla help

i am trying to sum the range shown..my code is not working. can someone please assist.

HoursPasted = wbAmendFile.Sheets(PasteType & " Import").Range("E" & PasteRow & ":E" & LastRowPasted).Sum

There is no "Sum" method in VBA. However, you can use Application.Sum:

HoursPasted = Application.Sum(wbAmendFile.Sheets(PasteType & " Import").Range("E" & PasteRow & ":E" & LastRowPasted))

i worked great. i tried doing the same thing to get a row count but this is not working. this is only counting rows that have a value in the cells. i want to count the rows in the range.

RowsPasted = Application.count(wbAmendFile.Sheets(PasteType & " Import").Range("E" & PasteRow & ":E" & LastRowPasted))

To get a row count (regardless if blank, or containing value)...

Try

RowsPasted = LastRowPasted - PasteRow + 1
