visual basis in excel

Hi All,
I am just new to MrExcel forum n i have seen that most of the querries are based on Visual basis. i don't know to write code in visual basis. I want to know is it necessary that one have to know visual basis to grip on Ms excel whether i have to learn visual basis to command over excel
