Hi all,

I'm trying to run a vlookup to another workbook with a few different named ranges with the formats like this:

SP_PRICE_TABLES_MASTER.xlsx!123
SP_PRICE_TABLES_MASTER.xlsx!ABC
SP_PRICE_TABLES_MASTER.xlsx!XYZ

So my vlookup typically looks like this: =VLOOKUP(D4,SP_PRICE_TABLES_MASTER.xlsx!ABC,2,FALSE)

I would like to put the "ABC" part - the named range ID into a cell in the same row as the lookup so that I can simply enter the named range into the cell on each row and copy the same lookup formula down the column beside it. I'm not sure how to do this though without getting a syntax error. I'm searching but struggling to find the right search criteria, has anyone got some insight?

Thanks!

Nick

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Scratch that! Figured it out :)

=VLOOKUP(D12,INDIRECT("SP_PRICE_TABLES_MASTER.xlsx!"&F12),2,FALSE)
