Hi there,

I have a list of historic data for each day of the month since 2009 down column A;

01/06/2011
02/06/2011
03/06/2011
04/06/2011
05/06/2011
06/06/2011
07/06/2011
08/06/2011
09/06/2011
10/06/2011
11/06/2011
12/06/2011
13/06/2011
14/06/2011
15/06/2011
16/06/2011
17/06/2011
18/06/2011
19/06/2011
20/06/2011
21/06/2011
22/06/2011
23/06/2011
24/06/2011
25/06/2011
26/06/2011
27/06/2011
28/06/2011
29/06/2011
30/06/2011

Besides each date are cells for opening and closing balances, as well as other daily activities.

I want to use VLOOKUP to search for just activity for the month of June 2011 from the list. Please can someone advise how this can be done?

Thank you.

Hi

I'm afraid you can't just use VLOOKUP in that way, you can however use other formulas such as SUMIF, SUMPRODUCT or COUNT etc. to bring you back information on occourances in June.

If you explain what your trying to do then someone maybe able to help you more?

Well I want to read the data from a tab which has a row per day.

The spreadsheet I want to display the information on appears like this (sorry unable to upload an image to the net from this PC);

¦------A------¦------B------¦------C------¦------D------¦------E------¦------F------¦------G------¦------H------¦
¦----Date-----¦Start Balance¦----Sales----¦-Withdrawals-¦--Purchases--¦--Deposits---¦- Adjustments¦-End Balance-¦
JANUARY 2011-¦
FEBRUARY 2011¦
MARCH 2011---¦
APRIL 2011----¦
MAY 2011-----¦
JUNE 2011-----¦
JULY 2011-----¦

Within each blank cell, I wanted to pull the data from another tab called "Activity" which lists each column daily, and I was hoping VLOOKUP would suffice, but as that only looks up the specific day required, I want to broaden the search to activity for the entire month.

Please can you show me how to do this. :)
