Is there any way of doing a case-sensitive VLOOKUP?

If my lookup table_array (A1:B2) contains
APPLES xxx
apples yyy
then VLOOKUP("apples",A1:B2,2,false) returns "xxx", but I want "yyy".

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
Try...

=INDEX(B1:B2,MATCH(TRUE,EXACT(A1:A2,"apples"),0))

...confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER.

Hope this helps!

Aladin - I like your method - thank you. Dominic's version works too, but I don't like using array formulas if there's an alternative.
