Hi All:

I keep getting an error when I try the following Vlookup formula.
Book1
BCDEF
1
2
3650000650000TRUE
4
5#N/A
Sheet1

I realize that if I change the formula so that the range is from E to F the and the index is 2 I will get the desired result. However, I need to understand why this formula won't work or is returning an error.

Thanks again for your help,

BA

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
VLOOKUP

arg 1 Lookup Value, which is your 65000.

arg 2 is table array, D2:F3 in your example

arg 3 is column index number

The Lookup Value must be in the left most column of the table array. In your example, there is NOTHING in the left coumn (D), so VLOOKUP returns an error.
