VLOOKUP range changes using autofill

This is probably just a noob issue that I'm overlooking or unfamiliar with.

My data set is entering a name in one column (ie, C2) and VLOOKUP fills in the Supervisor name by looking in another tab (Staff) for tech and corresponding supervisor.

So when I use the pull down autofill (I dont know the official name - the green button by the red arrow above), it changes the row/columns for both lookup and table array. See below.

I need the table array to keep the same original range Staff!A2:B10, but lookup value to change when using the "autofill". I have tried using $ to lock, but it didn't seem to work.

Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
You need to lock the rows like Staff!A$2:B$10
