VLOOKUP range probelm???

Hi guys,

I want to perform a lookup function that will find a given value within a range. Ie, user inputs 100 to a cell, and lookup will retrieve an approximate match +-5 from column 1 and display adjacent cell in column 2.

A standard vlookup true statement with a range i guess? (search for approximately 100 between 95-105).

Im still learning VBA so any help would be brilliant.

Care to post a small sample along with the desired result?

Hi Aladin,

Desired result can be expressed in words as...

A range of A1:B12

Column A being a list of fruit.
Column B being the price of that fruit.

Upon inputting "Banana" the user will be told the price of a banana in cell D4 (can do with a standard vlookup)...but I also need to retrieve name of a fruit that is within a certain price range from the cost of a banana in D5(say 15cents/pence whatever the currency)

So if banana = 40, apple = 28, mango = 60 then D4 will display "40" and D5 should display "apple"

If you do the following 2 things it should get you somewhere near what you want.

Firstly sort the table on price lowest to highest.

secondly place the item to the right as well as the left of the price and then do another lookup based on the return price of the original item - 0.01 it will return the next lowest priced item from the lookup.
