Hi,

I have cell in a spreadsheet showing the current month. I have done this using the =NOW() formula and doing a custom format (mmmm).

I then want to perform a vlookup formula which looks up the month in a table of months and bring back a value from the corresponding adjacent cell.

Unfortunately this simply brings back the result #N/A. I have tried changing the months in the lookup table to dates formatted in the same way, but I still have the same problem.

Does anyone know how I can get around this?

Excel Facts

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.
formatting only changes the appearance of the date, not the underlying value, try using TEXT function to get the month as text, i.e.

=TEXT(NOW(),"mmmm")
