What does the code mean and do, logic behind it

Hi,

Ive been browsing through some of the topicsn in the archive, however I find some of the code a bit confusing. Is there a good link that you can reccoment to me so I can get a better understading of this
e.g.

what is a boolean?
dim as double
dim as boolean?
is there somewher whoich explains the logic of these? Also is there a site which explains it and then has an excel file with the VBA code so you can go and play and test these?
