Hello,

I just realised that when selecting a series on a chart in xl2010,
the traditional "SERIES(...,...,...)" formula doesn't appear in the formula bar.

Is that a usual behaviour in xl2010?
Can that be modified?
How could I see these formulas again?

Thanks,

Michel

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
No, the formula should appear. Do you not see anything in the formula bar at all? What about the name box to the left?

Go to View tab. Whether "Formula Bar" checkbox is checked?

Indeed, I can see the "series" on the newly-created chart.
However, the old chart is still unwilling to disclose the series formula.
Strange.

Also, the formula bar is visible, and the checkedbox is checked.
Yet, the formula cannot be seen and it is "frozen" (disabled but visible).

Is the old chart definitely still linked to data?

The old chart is linker to the data,
and the sheet is not protected.

The data are in a list, and usually the list is filtered.
I checked that removing the filter doesn't change this behaviour.

I also converte dthe list to a range, and it did not have an effect.

Can you clarify what you mean by the last part of "Yet, the formula cannot be seen and it is "frozen" (disabled but visible)."

I've seen this on rare occasions, and I don't know the cause. I have one suspicion:

Was the chart created in a "Classic" version of Excel (2003 or earlier)?
