Ok So my script is calling a few workbooks and it can select one cell but when I do this:
Code:
Workbooks(Pay).Sheets("Input").Range(Cells(2, 2), Cells(20, 2)).Select
it doesn't work anymore.

If I do this:
Code:
Workbooks(Pay).Sheets("Input").Cells(2, 2).Select
it works fine, but I need the whole range.

Any ideas?

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
You need to fully qwualify the Cells() objects (otherwise they refer to the Activesheet which may not be the same as the Input sheet. Hence, write it like:

Code:
With Workbooks(Pay).Sheets("Input")
  .Range(.Cells(2, 2), .Cells(20, 2)).Select
End With

and note the period (.) before each Cells().

That works perfect. I am not familiar with the with statements, but it looks like I will have to learn.

The with is essentially providing a shortcut way of writing the following:

Code:
Workbooks(Pay).Sheets("Input").Range(Workbooks(Pay).Sheets("Input").Cells(2, 2), Workbooks(Pay).Sheets("Input").Cells(20, 2)).Select
