I HATE pop up boxes and balloons.

In MS Office applications, when I do File, Open and hover over a list of files, I hate the distracting pop up boxes that tell me the "Type", "Size" and "Date Modified". That same information is listed in details.

How do I tell Windows (or the individual apps like Word and Excel) not to show these.

Similarly, on the Quick Launch tool bar at the bottom of my desktop, if I hover over the Excel icon a giant box pops up and states,

"Microsoft Office Excel 2007 Perform calculations, analyze information, and visualize data in spreadsheets by using Microsoft Office Excel"

My God, do I really need to see this pop up!! I put the icon on the Quick Launch tool bar and have been using Excel since 1992.

I DON'T NEED TO SEE THE POP UPS!!

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
the quick launch pop-up is easy. just right click it. properties. delete the box labeled Comment.

Ahhhh, you're right. That was easy. Thank you.

One annoying pop up problem solved.

Anybody have a solution for the other one?
