Workbook activate problem

Hi all

any ideas why I would get a 'subscript out of range' error when running the following line of code

Workbooks(cocode & Period).Activate

the cocode variable is set to 'HES'
the period variable is set to '201106'

and the workbook HES201106.xls is loaded

Can't understand why it won't work ??
