I have a workbook that needs to be locked so a user cannot make changes to certain fields. I can do that fine.

My problem is we have a master workbook saved to a server. A script made with VB.net opens the file and saves the template to a XLS with a certain number. I need the master locked and the file saved locked. If the script is opening the file (which is locked) how can I have excel identify is the script opened the file or the user?

TO get the script changed to enter a password will take 3 weeks to complete (politics). I need this requirement met ASAP. Any ideas how to complete this without touching the script?
