Me & my colleague are using same excel sheet (ms office 2007) at different computers connected through LAN, sometimes we have to update the same sheet at the same time so one has to close his sheet so that he can do the update as a result of which another has to remain idle.

Someone can help ??? is that any solution in excel that we both can done update at the same time without loosing anyone data which is updated by both of us

Please mention the procedure how to fix this problem

Your quick reply will be appreciated

Thanks

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

you can share workbooks across a network but I dont trust it personally (as I have never used it)

problem comes when you get conflicts if for e.g a person updates the same cell and it only updates other peoples changes in your workbook when you save it(you can get round this i suppose with autosave)

I generally use a main file and a sub file so each person has their own sub file and when they "Update" the file it runs a macro and copies the data into the main file
