Working out position from scores in a list

I am trying to devise a simple spreadsheet for a quiz night. There will be several teams and they will get scored for 8 rounds of questions. If I keep an ongoing total of each of the teams scores, is there a way I can have the spreadsheet say who is 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc based on their total score to-date.

Kind Regards
Duncan

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

Hi,

Check the helpfiles for the RANK() function - it does exactly what you ask.

Use the RANK function

Say range J1:J10 has the subtotal for teams' scores

In K1 =RANK(J1,\$J\$1:\$J\$10,0)

and copy down

One way is to record a macro and put it on a button to place them in highest order when all scores are entered.

Colin.
