Working with an XML/JSON API

Hi

I'd like to use my existing data on a web 2.0 service (Solve360) in Excel.

I can download the data via an Internet Browser in XML format with no problems, and can't understand why I can't get the "Use External Sources... From Other Sources... From XML Data Import" to connect to the API, since the API is available in XML format (and also JSON but that's completely irrelevant here I think).

Is my only option to download the data via a web browser, and then import it into Excel? I was rather hoping I would be able to 'interact' with the data; that is, that changes would be at least somewhat synchronous.

Can Excel handle this sort of work, or do I need a programmer to create something to act as a middleman, or perhaps Access is better at dealing with API's?

The data on Solve360 is a database, and much of it has already been imported from Excel in the first place.

All replies greatly appreciated, even if you don't think something could be of much help it might give me some idea of what else I could try.

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
