Year to date formula, need assistance.

Hello all,
In cell R7 is a total of vacation hours an individual is allowed per month (6.7 hours per month).

How do I take that number and multiply it by =now() to get the year to date?

R8 = answer

=sum(R7/(today()-date(2011,1,1))*100)

Is the calculation done on full months only? If so:

=DATEDIF(DATE(YEAR(TODAY()),1,1),TODAY(),"m")*R7
Format as number.

That gives me a total of 2.4242.

I am currently using this formula that works,
=R7*DATEDIF(T1,TODAY(),"m")
But im trying to remove the reference to cell T1 in this formula. I really do not want to use another cell as a reference.
Is this even possible?

Couldn't you get the same result with this formula?

=(MONTH(TODAY())-1)*R7
