Years difference between two years

I can't seem to find this information anywhere.

I have for example the following years
2000
2001
2002
2003
2004
2005

I would like to know the difference from today's year to the previous years..

How can I do this?

You might need to give a bit more of an example of what you are trying to achieve.
My initial reaction would be that it sound like a datedif function application.

I would like to know the number of years that have passed for example between today's year-2021 and 2000.
I only have years in the cells not full dates.

I have to be missing something that would just be =A2-A1 where A2 = 2021 and A1 = 2020.

I don't have the current year' in a column, only past years. I put 2021 in G1 and the formula I used is =$G$1-B2. and it works.
How would you input today's year-2021 in the formula without reference to another cell -$G$1.
