I am running an access append query in access 2010. And I keep getting the following error:

"you cannot record changes because a value you entered violates the settings defined for this table or list (for example, a value is less than the minimum or greater than the maximum). correct the error and try again"

I have looked in the two tables I am importing from and to in order to determine the field data types in both; the fields were all the same so I am slightly confused.

Does anyone have suggestions based on their past experiences?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Are any of your field types set to allow unique entries only, and the append query would create a duplicate (which would violate that rule)?

If you cannot figure it out, I would try breaking up the records or fields so you are doing smaller "chunks" at a time, so you can try to zero in on the offending record.

I just ran into this problem -- I was trying to append records from a linked table into a local table.

The problem was that the linked table had been incorrectly mapped. When I opened the linked table from within Access, one column was returning an error. I needed to re-link the table correctly and then the error went away.
