Creating a Roulette spreadsheet

Hello,

I am trying to create a spreadsheet that will keep a record of past spins in a spin column but I also want it to automatically enter a "YES" in text if that number is true in a number of other columns.

ie

Column A = Spin
Column B = RED
Column C = 1st 12
Column D = Odd
etc

Assume the first number called is 1

This is a RED, it is also an Odd and also falls in the 1st 12

So I need columns A,B,C and D to update by putting in the text "YES"

Obviously column A is easy it just requires me to type in or input the number generated by the dealer on a spin.

But what formula would I use on say column C. Assuming the first spin number is in cell A3 and was number 1, I would have thought that the formula to enter in Column C would be something like:-

=IF A3 =(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12) THEN "YES"

It's obviously wrong but what would be the best way to do this?

You could use:

=IF(AND(A3>0,A3< 13),"YES","NO")

=IF(AND(A3>0,A3<13),"Yes","")

Thank you "Steve The Fish and Mr Excel MVP for those quick replies, I ended up using a "$" and a "space" as the text to make the layout look more pleasing to the eye. That formula worked fine but for some of the columns ie Whether the last number was a red or black, an odd or an even, or finally only specific numbers like (1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25,28,31 and 34) as in column 1 on a roulette table. In such cases the syntax or formula may be different. I hope I have explained sufficiently.

I reckon if I get an answer that works for the above I should be able to complete my spreadsheet.

Hi, a generalised formula that you should be able adapt for all scenarios could look something like this:

This example identifies the "Red" numbers:

=IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(A2,{1,3,5,7,9,12,14,16,18,19,21,23,25,27,30,32,34,36},0)),"Red","")

You were right, my spreadsheet is complete enough, I only need my Zero column doing which should be simple (but only if you know how), If a zero is entered in cell A3 then I need my "Zero column to merely type "Zero"

Hi everyone who has helped me so far,

I am struggling with one last aspect of my completed spreadsheet.

Column A represents a number from 0 to 36 which is input as I go along.

As I enter a number in cells in column A I have various formulas in several other columns that for instance return a number 2 into a column collecting information on whether the number entered in cell A6 falls between numbers 1 and 18)

So as I progress entering numbers in column A a number is entered in my other columns based on the formulas entered. So I now have various columns containing rows of the same number ranging between say 1 and 17.

Column B records only number 2's, Column C number 3 etc etc

For arguments sake assume column A now has the results of 500 spins of the wheel correctly extended into 17 other columns various columns. So I now have 17 columns (From B to R inclusive) each containing the numbers 1 to 17 in them.

In cell reference A4 I have just entered the text "SUMMARY" so that Row 4 will provide me with the number of times a certain event has occurred in my 500 spins.

So for example column G contains only the number 6 each time the spin represented a number between 19 to 36 and Column M contains only the number 13 to represent each time ZERO came up.

I am trying to ensure that Row 4 will always display how many times number 6 was entered into column G or how many times the number 16 appeared in column M

So I have entered this formula in cell G505 =SUM(G4:G505)/6 which in theory should add up all the number 6's in column G and divide that number by 6 to leave me with the number of times the number 6 has been extended into column G

Is this formula wrong? as all I get is the figure 0 entered each time.

I am using excel 2007

I hope someone knows the answer to this one and hope I have explained the problem ok.

Hi, if you want to count the number of times the number 6 appears in the range G4:G505 you would use =COUNTIFS(G4:G505,6)

If you are putting the formula in cell G505 then you should not include that cell in the criteria_range, maybe use G504 instead.
