Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
Use conditional Formatting in G6
Choose the 'Formula Is' Option
Enter =ISNUMBER(E6)

Use conditional formatting...

cell value - not equal to - $E$6

Change the cell shading to the desired color within the Conditional Formatting dialogue box.

Some more restrictive format conditionals include...

=AND(E6>"12/31/2001"+0,LEFT(CELL("format",E6))="D")

...which differentiates between "any old number" and a datevalue beyond 2001. Furthermore, it
requires E6 to be formatted to "look" like a date.
