I just learned today of the datedif function that is not listed within excel but works. I found a previous post about this that it is listed within excel 2000 help but nowhere else. This particular formula was very useful and I imagine there may be others. Is there a list somewhere of other functions that are not listed but still work within excel 2010?

Hi

The problem with DateDif() is that in same cases it's not clear which should be the correct result. That happens when you are subtracting 2 dates and want the result in months and days. If the dates are near the start and end of the months it's difficult to say what the result should be. After lots of discussions in public forums I guess they though it would be better if this function would lay low . If that was ms wanted, it's a success, since most of the users never heard of it. I guess they didn't put an end to its misery because of backward compatibility?

There are a few other Formulas that are not shown in Excel
1: DAYS (start_date, end_date) This will determine the number of days between the indicated two dates
2: ISOWEEKNUM (date) Returns the number of weeks in the specific year that the mentioned date occurs
3: FORMULATEXT (reference) Returns a formula as a text string
4: BINOM.DIST.RANGE (trials, probability_s, number_s, [number_s2]) Returns the probability of a trial result using a binomial distribution

There are a few more that you can find on https://www.simplilearn.com/ms-excel-2013-hidden-features-to-know-article

Hi

The post before yours was from 2012.
These functions that you mention did no exist then.

These new functions were introduced later, in excel 2013, and are not hidden or not shown.
They are not as well known just because they are recent, some users don't know them yet.
