VBA: alternative to sendkeys - is it possible?

Hello
I need to automatically fill forms in my software (not Excel). I don't want to use sendkeys because this method in not reliable.
There is a software that changes object values of running applications -->link<-- that's the method I would like to use.
I wrote to the author but didn't answer so I'm asking you: is it possible to use this method in Excels VBA?
Does anyone know how he does it and where I should look for information?
