I am trying to get a formula to look in A1:A1000 from A1 downwards and coutn how many "x" there are until it gets to a "y". hope this is clear any help appreciated.

I am trying to create an IF formula as follows: =IF(A1>0,b1>0,A1+B1, "") So I want if to return anything above 0, and then add the two columns if there are numbers, but exclude blanks. I hope I am making sense. Not sure if the brackets are correct. Any help would be great.
