Hi,

I have created a spreadsheet on a Windows system using Excel 2007, it is a macro enabled workbook/VBA etc.

I am now trying to open the file at home on my Mac (using Mac Office 2011), it is showing as an xlsm file and I just get the error message "the file format or extension is not valid" when trying to open it with Excel 2011. Is this a cross compatibility issue or because it is an xlsm file? I searched around on Google and read about how Excel 2008 didnt have the ability to use macros.

I want to be able to open the xlsm file in Mac Office 2011, is there any convertor/fix available?

Thanks in advance :)

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
I realize this is an old post, and you likely found your answer, but since 2011 is still the latest Mac OS X version, or for others or just for the sake of dotting i's/crossing t's...

VBA support is an optional component during installation of Office 2011, so make sure you have it installed (or go back and do so with your original install file/media).
