Able to edit xls online?

I've been using a Google Sheet to keep track of my odometer readings, gas purchases, miles, mpg, times, etc. because I've been able to edit it via the app on my phone, but since I can't split the windows into panes for better viewing is turning out to be a dealbreaker.

Is it possible to upload an Excel spreadsheet into the cloud or on my own server, edit it on my phone, and with the split panes? Maybe there's a tutorial someone could point me to?
