add up rows

Hello, I have a spreadsheet with dates at the top (multiple columns could have the same date). The rows have dollar amounts. I would like to say, "add up all row 14 for columns that have the date of 8/14/14".

=SUMIF(1:1,"8/14/2014",14:14)
