Adding new rows and columns

Hello Gurus!

I'm having trouble inserting new rows and columns into my spreadsheet. Stupidly, in order to make the spreadsheet look better, I decided to delete all the rows that weren't being used that extended to the end of each sheet. Unfortunately, due to subsequent edits and adjustments made I now need more rows and columns. So I try inserting rows/columns but I get an error message that says I can't shift data off the sheet. Is there another way to add rows to the sheets??

Thank you!

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
The message is because you must have some data in the last rows of the sheet, or when inserting columns on the last column on the right.
It is unlikely that you need to use all the rows or columns. Possibly you used data-fill on an entire column or row.

If you have data in the last column, Excel won't allow you to add a column.

So is there no way around this? No alternative way to add rows/columns?
Move the data from the last Rows/Columns, thus would allow you to modify your setup and add Rows/Columns.
