I have a spreadsheet where today's date is highlighted via conditional formatting. I've just upgraded my Android phone and it does not now move to todays date for the highlighting. It seems a bit random and generally sits one day behind. When I look at the date format on the Android it is mm/dd/yy but there is nowhere to change this and it used to work fine on my old Android phone. Any ideas on this please. Works absolutely fine on my desktop.

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
If the date is entered as an actual date and not text, the format of the date shouldn't really have any impact on it.
Are you sure that the date on your Android phone is correct, and reflects which time zone you are in?

Thanks Joe. Yes the phone is using the provider date and is in the correct timezone. You do raise a good point though. The cells are set to Custom so I can use the date option provided of 24/Jan/20 which reduces the cell width required rather than the short date of 21/07/2020. Hasn't been an issue before but maybe?

Just a wee update. I've changed the next few days cells to be short date so will see what happens in the morning. I may just have to go with a slightly wider cell width if it works.
