Apportioning A Value by Date

Hi Guys

Can anybody help me?

I have a spreadsheet which has values down the left most column, across the top of the spreadsheet I have Months Sept 05 to Aug 07.

In the 2nd and 3rd column I have start date then finish date.

Is there anyway I can split the value of the left most column across the two dates between the 2nd and 3rd columns with the resulting values going into the relevant months column across the sheet?

I was wondering if I could use a fromula in every cell?

I would be grateful for any direction?

to amend for your needs

D1 should be 01/09/2005, then successive months across row 1 (you can format as mmm yy to just show month and year

then with your value in A2, start date in B2 and end date in C2

D2 and copied across row (and down column if necessary)

=MAX(0,MIN($C2+1,EDATE(D$1,1))-MAX($B2+1,D$1))/($C2-$B2)*$A2
